Go Get It, Lycos

Lycos, in keeping with their goal to become the most visited destination on the web, Lycos, Inc. finalized its acquisition of Wired Digital, Inc., which owned HotBot, along with Webmonkey, Wired News, HotWired, and Suck.com.

According to Media Metrix, the company which keeps track of such things, the Lycos Network reaches approximately half of the American web audience.

The acquisition gives Lycos representation on both coasts, with about a third of its employees located in San Francisco and Mountain View.

Lycos and HotBot now share their search engine traffic, each having a link to the other at the bottom of each page of results.

A submission tip which is often overlooked:  Lycos will not index a page which has fewer than 100 words in text, title and alt tags.
