Network, currently attracts more than 7.1 million users monthly, according to Media Metrix. On July 1, 1999, the Lycos acquisition of HotBot was finalized.

Taken into account when ranking: the words in the title, keyword META tags, word frequency in the document, site popularity, and document length. Hotbot appears to favor shorter pages with prominent keywords.
Popularity is monitored by Direct Hit, and they then proclaim the top 10 results in HotBot.
